Janice Abbott | CEO, Atira Women’s Resource Society & Atira Property Management Inc.
WHY: Abbott has dedicated her career to helping Vancouver’s most vulnerable. Her group, Atira Property Management Inc. and Women’s Resource Society—is one of the largest social services agencies in the Downtown Eastside. Abbott launched the management company in 1983 in an effort to support women and children affected by violence. She has led the organization from a single transition house to a large, multi-service agency with more than a dozen programs and 16 non-market housing sites across the Lower Mainland.
