Theresa

The power of drumming is helping Aboriginal elder Theresa come to peace with the 2004 passing of her husband, Lawrence. The couple had been married for 34 years and Theresa still mourns his loss. Recently, he came to her in a dream and told her it was time to let go. For the past year, she has lived at The Franklin and it is there, with the help of elders, family and staff, that she participated in a ceremony to honour Lawrence’s wishes. Theresa’s biggest passion today is her grandchildren; more than anything, she wants to remain close with them and reconnect with other family members lost to foster care.
