Mike
At the young age of 39, Mike suffered the first of three heart attacks. He’d been a fisher and was used to hard work; suddenly he was out of work and homeless - his way of life had to change completely. Now, at 51, Mike lives at the Marr Hotel with his partner, Marion. He’s grateful for his large, clean room and dreams of one day living in a small suite. He works odd jobs and also walks most days to Point Grey, binning. Mike sees the Downtown Eastside as his community, a place where everyone shares similar circumstances. "We’re all people," he says, "Everyone has a story.
