Bill

Seventy-seven-year-old Bill knows the Downtown Eastside as well as anyone and is proud to be part of its community: he has lived there for 40 years. Most of those years, Bill has called the London Hotel home and he used to work in the downstairs’ pub. Although he retired over a decade ago, Bill continued to work in the bar every night, cleaning glasses and setting tables in preparation for the next day, until the business closed recently. In many ways, Bill is just like pensioners you would find in other parts of the city. An avid Canucks and Lions fan, he heads out every Tuesday on his scooter to do his shopping.
