Bingo
Residential schools have taken their toll on many Aboriginal people, including Bingo. Originally from Kingcome Inlet, a remote fjord on the B.C. coast, Bingo was separated from his family and community at a young age. Years later he continues to deal with alcohol and drug addictions, while working to raise awareness about the effects of residential schools. Today, Bingo makes his home at the Roosevelt Hotel. Every morning he puts on a tie and meets his friends for coffee and to read the paper at "The Office" on the corner of Main and Hastings. He always has a big smile and, with his good heart, is ready to help people anyway he can.
Sadly, Bingo passed away shortly after the Real People, Real Lives project was completed but he is well remembered by the community.
