Cherry
When she was just 14, Cherry was living on the streets. A pimp gained her trust and forced her into the sex trade. Within a year, she was addicted to heroin and cocaine. At 18, Cherry began to do human rights work around women and children working as prostitutes; she has even travelled to New York to make a presentation to the United Nations on these issues. She has also written three published works on the subject. Now 40, Cherry lives at the Rice Block. She still struggles with her addictions and spends her free time doing things to keep herself strong. She finds comfort in cooking and baking, sewing, pottery, and reading about spirituality.
