Volunteer Spotlight: Shae Anthony
Shae Anthony is an Irish and Six Nations (Delaware) women trespassing on unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh + Sel̓íl̓witulh lands. She is a practicing artist, currently volunteering to teach “Art Play” classes at Enterprising Women Making Art.
Shae is an art therapist in training, studying with Toronto Art Therapy Institute. She strongly believes in the inherent value of all beings and the healing power of art.
Shae tries to find pleasure in every day, and hopes that the classes and interactions she has at EWMA help to bring joy to women who choose to attend. Shae previously worked with Atira as a Support Worker. She enjoyed working with the organization so much that she decided to reach out to EWMA to see if she could begin teaching classes in their space. Shae is grateful for all the amazing women she has met at EWMA and is continually amazed at the creative and inspiring artists that she meets. Shae believes that craft and art are vital to a healthy society, a society of makers versus consumers. Cooking is valuable. Gardening is valuable. Art making is valuable. Making things with your own hands will never go out of style. Shae is privileged to spend time doing just that at EWMA.
