7 Ways to Prevent Gender-Based Violence

In honour of Prevention of Violence Against Women Week, join us in raising awareness about violence against women and fight for a world free of inequalities.

For Prevention of Violence Against Women Week (April 11-17), we’ve formulated seven actions you can take to prevent gender-based violence in your everyday life. We encourage you all to read through these actions and be inspired to act, share with your community and raise awareness of the prevalence of violence against women and fight for political and social change in our systems and in our society.

All week, we will be sharing just some of the many ways you can combat gender-based violence within your communities.

DAY 1: SHARE AND LEARN ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES FOR WOMEN

DAY 2: ADVOCATE FOR INDIGENOUS WOMEN AND GIRLS

DAY 3: FOSTER AND ENCOURAGE SAFE DIGITAL SPACES

DAY 4: SUPPORT ATIRA WOMEN’S RESOURCE SOCIETY

DAY 5: NORMALIZE ASKING FOR CONSENT

DAY 6: LEARN ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF HARM REDUCTION-CENTRED SPACES FOR WOMEN

DAY 7: DEMAND A NATIONAL PLAN OF ACTION ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
