Dan

Dan has lived in the Downtown Eastside as long as he can remember, moving from one SRO to another in search of a safe, clean place to call home. The 49-year-old now makes that home in the Drake Hotel, where he loves to write and play music with his wife, Barb. Determined to be self-reliant, Dan has been off heroin for 19 years and now works part-time at the Park Hotel. He also supplements his income with binning,rescuing bottles and recyclables from landfills. Dan is proud of the unique solar art he creates and which he has sold to tourists from all over the world.
