Volunteer Testimonials

Finance Department

Dear Ms. Mila,

I would like to thank you for all the assistance and support the accounting team have provided me during my volunteering at Atira Women’s Resource Society for the past nine months.

I truly appreciate taking the time out of your busy schedule to train me as well as the information and advice you have given to me. Your expertise in ERP ACCPAC system and general bookkeeping is exceptional. I gained an invaluable experience during this process that developed my leadership skills while giving me the chance to create fulfilling memories for people.

I truly enjoyed working with you, Ms.Winnie and Ms. Joanna. Your team has always been very resourceful, knowledgeable and extremely supportive. I am very happy that I have had a chance to work by your side. It allowed me not only acquire insight into company’s operations but also deepen and practice my accounting and management knowledge in real life.

Recently I got an accounting position at RSC Group and this would have not been possible without Ms. Mila’s and Ms. Winnie’s support and extensive practical accounting experience and references that they provided me with.

I hope that I will have a chance to work with such a great team once again in the future.

Again, thank you so much and I sincerely appreciate your generosity and support.

Best Regards,

Dear Mila,

The second week of my employment is over. I am so happy with my new employment at Pacific Community Resources that I want to thank you once again for your guidance, patience and kind supervision during my volunteering experience with ATIRA Women’s Resource Society. Thank you for inviting me, giving me the chance to get an insight of the company and receive the Canadian accounting experience. Your constant leadership throughout the 5 month period assisted me in further development of my analytical and communications skills as well as my ability to implement individual projects and function as a team accountant on various tasks and projects within the company.

The experience was more than I could have expected and allowed me the freedom to develop and maintain knowledge of AccPac, ATIRA’s organizational structure,  company’s accounting system on a new professional level. I actually felt like a staff member, like a contributor in the weekly recurring transactions and I was able to independently fulfill and assist with the various tasks. Volunteering for ATIRA helped me to use the knowledge I’ve acquired over the last year as a BCIT student as well as the skills I’ve developed during my previous employment in Russia.

I also want to thank the entire staff in the Finance Department (Winnie, Joanna and you Mila) for taking the time to share the expertise and knowledge of the field, for providing me with the  positive references I needed. It was through these times that I felt I was able to learn and grow the most in developing my skills over the course of my volunteering. You all were so responsive to my requests and always made me feel like a full-time member of the group.

In close, Mila, I knew ATIRA Women’s Resource Society was the type of a company at which I could excel, but it wasn't until this morning that I truly understood how lucky I was, how wonderful it was to know each of you and to utilize my skills in such a thriving environment. I wish you all the best! And thank you!
