The official opening ceremony of The Maxxine Wright Centre is this Friday, April 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at 13733 - 92 Avenue in Surrey. In attendance will be the Honourable Rich Coleman, Minister of Housing and Social Development, Councillor Mary Martin, City of Surrey; Representatives from the Government of Canada, Surrey Housing & Homelessness Society, BC Housing, Fraser Health, & Atira Women’s Resource Society will be there to celebrate.

Strong Women Strong Music

Atira's annual Strong Women Strong Music concert is March 4th from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Ironworks Studio at 235 Alexander Street in Vancouver. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.

The evening will host the incredible talent of Sherri Chisholm, Laura Crema, Karen Graves, Diane Lines, Karin Plato, Wendy Salloway and Jennifer Scott.

EWMA Open House a great success!

The EWMA Open House with Lovetta Conto was a great success! The event was able to raise $1400 in sales of Akewel'le necklaces. The proceeds will go towards Strongheart House, a house in Liberia for 15 young adults either displaced or orphaned by war or other circumstances.

Endeavour Gala

November 7th was a night filled with glitz, glam and provided a venue where philanthropists and non-profits could come together to raise funds for worthy causes throughout BC. The 44th Annual Endeavour Gala and auction’s Winterlude themed event was a huge success. Atira was once again a beneficiary of the event and would like to thank all the wonderful staff and volunteers who took part in creating such a wonderful atmosphere.

Atira would like to especially thank our donors for contributing auction items to the event in which Atira received all the proceeds. EWMA Launches Product Catalogue

You are invited to the launch of Enterprising Women Making Art's new products catalogue, which showcases the ceramic homewares ofLaura Harrison and contemporary and semi-precious jewelry by Vivian Bomberry.

There will be complimentary gifts, art and crafts on display and for sale; as well as food, refreshments, and jazz music!

Blending art, community and social entrepreneurship, EWMA works with emerging female artisans in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
